Greenleaf Power LLC is taking over Plainfield Renewable Energy

US renewable energy firm Greenleaf Power LLC has sealed a deal to take over Plainfield Renewable Energy, which runs a 37.5-MW biomass power facility in Connecticut. Greenleaf is buying the plant from Leidos Inc for an undisclosed price. The transaction is seen to close later this year. Thanks to this purchase, Sacramento-based Greenleaf will expand its own portfolio of biomass power facilities to more than 180 MW.
Plainfield facility
These plants are located in the company’s home state of California and in Canada. The Plainfield facility has been operating since December 2013, producing enough renewable power per year to meet the needs of up to 280,000 households. It sells its generated electricity to Connecticut Light and Power under a long-term off-take deal.
