Straw pellets statistics The analysts affirm that production volumes on Ukrainian bioenergy market grow tremendously. The development of solid biofuel sector mainly takes place thanks for agricultural pellets which include straw pellets.

Under the modern market conditions the majority of straw pellet producers and sellers is focused on selling their production abroad. It’s determined by the demand from European customers, which significantly prevails over the supply of this biofuel from Ukrainian sellers. Due to the technical features straw pellets mostly suit for usage at heating power plants. Therefore, the Western purchasing companies are mainly interested in large batches of the production and long-term agreements. Moreover, the geographic location of Ukraine lets national pellet sellers deliver their production directly to many European regions by railway transport. As a result the transport costs allow Ukrainian companies to form the rates which are attractive for Europeans. Therefore, these days the business connected with straw pellet production and selling is quite profitable. The producers and suppliers who may grant large batches of this solid fuel, may easily find their customers and sell 100% of the production.

As for the market of solid fuel in Ukraine, here the permanent growth and development are also noticeable. Solid fuel boilers get far more available for population and companies as the range of cost efficient models gets wider annually. Besides this, more and more consumers appreciate such benefits of alternative fuel as its safety, sustainability, and good prices when the traditional power sources constantly get more expensive. In Ukrainian villages and small towns straw pellets are often used at local boiler stations for heating hospitals, kindergartens, educational establishments and other social facilities.

The specialists of marketing department of Ukrainian biofuel portal have been working on the base of straw pellet producers and suppliers in Ukraine for five years (since 2008). Not long ago they prepared the latest base release covering the period from November 2011 till October 2012.

The base release contains the data about average prices, delivery conditions, volumes, packing and the documents accompanying proposed production. The companies presented are located in the following Ukrainian regions: Kiev, Vinnitsa, Dnepropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zhytomir, Zaporozhye, Kirovograd, Odessa, Poltava, Sumy, Khmelnitsk, Cherkassy and the Crimea. The users of this base will be able to start collaboration with big producers and suppliers and also with private entrepreneurs who sell smaller volumes.

If we analyze the statistic data of the base we may conclude that over the past five years the Ukrainian sector of straw pellets features a positive dynamics of development. The annually increasing amount of the producers and suppliers of this solid biofuel is a good witness for this statement. In 2012 the increase of straw pellet sellers was 45%.
